How the Scheme works

The Motability Scheme lets customers exchange part or all of their mobility allowance to lease a car, powered wheelchair/scooter (PWS) or wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV).

Who can join?
To be eligible to join the Scheme, the customer must receive one of the following award types:

Enhanced rate mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC of PIP).

Higher rate mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance (HRMC of DLA).
-
War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS).
-
Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP).
-
Higher rate mobility component of Scotland's Child Disability Payment (CDP).
-
Enhanced rate mobility component of Scotland's Adult Disability Payment (ADP).

Scotland's Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance (SADLA)
How long is the lease?
For PWS customers, the lease lasts three years.
What's included in the lease?
Our all-inclusive package includes:

A new powered wheelchair, or scooter, every three years.
-
Home delivery and collection.
-
Insurance cover from Direct Line Motability (DLM).
-
Breakdown assistance from Motability Assist.
-
Servicing, maintenance and repairs.
-
Replacement tyres.
-
Batteries.
What's not included?
The customer is responsible for the following:

Additional extras.
-
Any fines.
-
Any damage caused to the product by neglect or abuse.
